John Wilfong is a husband, father, and businessman who has spent his life helping others think deeply about purpose, stewardship, and the quiet courage of wise decisions. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, he serves as a Managing Director and Private Wealth Advisor at UBS, where he leads the Wilfong Gage Group, a team known for guiding families and business owners through the long arc of building, giving, and living well.
A graduate of the University of Memphis, where he played basketball for the Tigers and later earned his MBA, John learned early the value of teamwork, grit, and grace under pressure. Those lessons on the court would later shape his approach to leadership, generosity, and faith: themes that echo throughout his writing and life.
The Search for a WiseHeart was born from years of listening: to clients, family, Scripture, and to the quiet lessons life teaches when success and suffering meet. John wrote it as both a story and a mirror, a narrative of growth that traces how young men, and all who guide them, learn to see the image of God in themselves and others.
Rooted in the theology of God’s sovereignty and the hope of redemption, WiseHeart blends John’s love for faith, sports, and the slow work of character. The book reflects his lifelong conviction that life’s messiness is not a barrier to faith but the very place where faith becomes real.
John and his wife, Catherine, make their home in Memphis, where they continue to invest their lives in faith, family, and the kind of work that outlives them.
